Spyglass

This unique location, with a clear view and focal point of the Empire State Building, is unlike any other in this city. Spyglass’ layout makes for a gathering place for large and small groups. Both a phenomenal private event space with its alcove spaces, it serves just as well for an intimate evening for friends, with a glimpse of the action from the streets below.

The beautiful old telescope Jimmy Stewart looked through in “Rear Window” is a prime example of the inspiration for the space, as well as the timeless bars and clubs created in this era of elegance and style.

The design elements at Spyglass include custom wall paper, black granite and unique steel. These components all come together to evoke the industrial heritage of the neighborhood; Spyglass is our homage to the voyeur.

Mixologist

With rich background in hospitality, Joe Goglia has been named the Mixologist of Spylass, the new rooftop destination at Archer New York hotel, helmed by the David Burke Group.

Originally from Philadelphia and raised in Connecticut, Goglia began his career in management as first a Supervisor and then the Manager of Bowlmor Lanes, where he supervised the bar, handled inventory and scheduling, and managed the venue’s security detail. During his time at Bowlmor he helped open the brand’s New York City location in Times Square. While living in New Haven CT, Joe was hired as the Manager of the Yale Dining Services where he oversaw inventory, union employee standards and general operations as well as the maintenance of its private country club. He was then hired as the Operations Manager of The All Star in Riverhead, New York, where he assisted in the opening and oversaw all bowling, arcade and facility operations.

After four years in management, Joe decided to leave the management industry to realize his dream of becoming a mixologist. He first became TIPS certified before receiving his first mixologist position in July 2013 at the David Burke Group. For the past year, Joe has been the mixologist for the company’s restaurants David Burke Fishtail, David Burke Kitchen and The Garden by David Burke at The James.

As the Mixologist for the David Burke Group’s newest venture, Spyglass, Joe will oversee the bar and all cocktail creation. The rooftop bar on the 22 floor of Archer New York will featured original, hand-crafted cocktails such as the Eastern Goose, a creative cocktail with Sapphire East Gin, lemon juice, St. Germaine and gooseberries, and the Mez-jito, a twist on the classic mojito with Union Uno Mezcal, lime, cucumber, mint and simple syrup. During his spare time, Joe enjoys watching sports and riding his bike.
